The Cast

All the lovely people I get to share my life and love of baking with.

Julia (aka Jay)
Quite a lovely woman and a fab cook!  My "roommate for life," she is the reason I saw and fell in love with New Orleans.  One of my fondest memories of us cooking and baking together was the Swedish/Southern Christmas of 2007.  I baked bread and cookies - she made jamalaya.  We also went through 2 big batches of glugg - a Scandinavian hot drink made with whiskey, wine, sugar, and spice.  I look forward to her moving back to her hometown and continuing to share our delicious concoctions for as long as we live.

Julia (aka Jules)
Julia is not a cook or a baker, but she is an eater of all delicious things.  She loves to help.  My favorite experience with her was putting her in charge of whipping cream.  Instructions: Whip until soft peaks form.  She stirred the cream like a pot of soup and asked, "Where are the peaks?"  I showed her my mad skills and she was impressed.  She never ceases to put a smile on my face.

Astrid
My Swedish sister, you might say.  We grew close through Interrobang, Scandinavian Womens Chorus, and, of course, in the kitchen.  In 2009 we staged a full out Smorgasbord at her apartment with traditional foods from Ikea and a ton of dessert.  She eats my baking and compliments in her soft intense compliment voice.  She is also an avid baker herself.  I also covet her mother's kitchen like whoa.

Chris
Another amazing cook - and professional too!  Sharing a kitchen with him is divine!  Also, eating his cooking is divine.  He is also my divine lover - He has the best disposition I have met yet and a joy for life that is wonderful to be around.  He's making plans to move down to New Orleans presently.  Hooray!  We will have a wonderful life together baking and cooking and eating delicious things.

Battey St.
This consists of most of the Interrobang crew and a few other gals & fellas.  They're artists, writers, musicians, and lovers of life.  So many good times have been had there in Providence.  When the era of that house has passed on - we will be telling stories forever.

Miss Anne
My Southern Mother.  Boy, does this woman know how to cook - especially my favorite BBQ shrimp in the world!  However, she keeps the messiest kitchen I have seen in my life, but not while I'm here.  My hostess of the mostess for a while as I get on my feet in New Orleans.  I will bake for her often!

My Grandmother
Here's a woman who has taught me what it means to be a lady of the kitchen.  Not only is she a supreme goddess of Italian and all other kinds of cooking, she is extremely generous with food and hospitality.  I have many hand-me-down pans and such.  I only got one grandmother and I am so blessed that it was her!
